A learning language portal, where you can learn practical and useful Medical Spanish to help you communicate effectively with patients and their families.
How many times have you said to yourself I should learn more Spanish? Maybe it is not the first time that you noticed that you need to improve your language skills, but, who has the time? Besides, you might not have the time to commute and spend more time in a classroom when you know your department is short staffed.
It is frustrating not knowing the language, believe me! When I came to the US, my English was not good enough to even have a decent conversation; I had to learn it not only for me but for my sister, who had to be hospitalized many times until she passed away.
I have experienced the frustration and the pain of having problems communicating in Hospitals and clinics, and feeling hopeless because I wasn’t able to express myself in English. Also, having to lose a loved one due to language barriers is devastating and heartbreaking.
Consequently, I was able to learn English and had excellent mentors who motivated me to continue improving my skills. Then, I decided to work in Healthcare to help others communicate effectively with patients and break the language barriers; thus, I kept learning and expanding my language skills.
I have worked in Healthcare as a Secretary, Interpreter, Translator, Manager and Educator with great people and excellent interpreters and translators from whom I learned a lot.
Being a Manager of a small bilingual program in a major Hospital and developing a robust Interpreter Department gave me the opportunity to work and serve the community.
Being a liaison, between the community and Hospitals, helped me understand the needs of both sides by working together in overcoming cultural and linguistic barriers to communicating effectively.
Thus, my mission is to continue supporting and providing quality courses and tutorials for those who, are heroes for me, serve and care for patients regardless of their nationality, cultural background, and needs.
What we have in common is to help and empower those we serve: our patients. We are a community, who works very hard in helping others make better health choices while providing quality medical care even if we have to overcome spoken or Sign Language barriers.
Nowadays, being bilingual is not only a skill but a blessing. As a bilingual medical professional, you may not want to be an interpreter, but just want or need the skills to be able to have a meaningful and productive conversation with your patient in their language. Then, my courses are for you!
I have been teaching for more than ten years in the medical field with excellent doctors, nurses, interpreters, and bilingual staff who always ask me to create accessible courses to help them improve their language skills and learn more Medical Spanish while they provide medical care. So, these courses are for you, my colleagues!
