What courses are offered?
These courses are for Healthcare Professionals from beginner to advanced levels and are designed to help you communicate with your Spanish-speaking patients. Also, we provide online courses for Medical Interpreters such as Medical Terminology, Ethics as well as Training and workshops for Healthcare Organizations such as Cultural Competency in Healthcare and Human Services.
Each course has exercises, practice sessions, and activities to help the student remember and practice what they learned. Thus, improving language skills that can be a compliment to job skills such as nursing.
The courses are entirely online; students can study at any time and anywhere. Also, the Course Library will be offering new classes and tutorials which are updated to keep up with the Interpreter trends and techniques.

What is the difference between Bilinguals, Interpreters, and translators?
To become an Interpreter, you must be bilingual. Being Bilingual is the foundation from where an Interpreter grows and develops. Bilingualism includes knowledge of the language and culture.
Interpreters deal with spoken languages, and they are a link between the patients and Healthcare professionals. They accurately convey the message from one language to another.
Interpreters are professionals who have been taking training to learn the Ethics and Standards to communicate effectively without interfering.
Interpreters have a strong bilingual foundation and an excellent knowledge of Culture. Besides, Interpreters are proficient in the language of Medicine - Medical Terminology.
Translators are professionals who specialize in documents, and their work consists mainly in ensuring that written communication is accurate and trustworthy from one language to another.
Why do I have to ask for an Interpreter? I am learning Spanish.
Congratulations! There is nothing more satisfactory than learning another language to reach out to others and help them in the hour of need.
While it is commendable and satisfactory to learn a language, it requires years to become proficient and fluent.
The level of communication that is necessary to speak to patients about medical care and diagnosis is complex.
Besides, working with an Interpreter will allow you concentrate on doing your job and connect with your patient until while you are confident enough to speak with your patients in their language.
Remember Medical Interpreters are professionals whose mission is to be your ally and not to interfere with your work.

When should I Ask for Interpreters?
You should ask for an Interpreter when the task is complex and emotional. These are some examples:
- Gathering medical information
- Giving results such diagnoses

- Cases of abuse, rape or mental health issues
- End of Life Conferences
- Explanation of the medical plan
